Week 2 off and, er, running!

Hi gang!

A year ago Week 1 was something that I never thought I could achieve. Overweight, badly unfit and approaching 50 years of age (well 46 was close enough hey?) I found a number of excuses. With a young family and an hours drive to and from work finding the time was also a big factor. Now I look back at my old self and wag the finger of disapproval!

I'm normally up at 6am but now find the alarm clock blasting out at 5:15 3 times a week. Week one was quite a culture shock for me but as I said in my first post after run 2 it was thoroughly enjoyable. I was elated to complete week 1 and not as apprehensive about week 2 as I thought I would be. 90 seconds of running was practically a marathon for me in the not too distant past. I've a lot to learn about pace and breathing but for now I seem to have a good balance. Anybody glancing out of their windows in a small North East Suffolk town at 5:50am on Monday (not likely I know) would've wondered what the dodgy looking bloke was celebrating. Maybe if they haul themselves out of bed they will find out! Hopefully I'll keep the optimistic narrative going in future posts, I know it won't always be plain sailing and warm sunny mornings!

Yeay!!!

Go you... so are you repeating C25K or did you not finish it last year??? (I'm old get tad confused!)

Either way... brilliant!!! And, you are right, it won't always be warm and sunny or plain sailing... but each run makes you stronger and more able to handle different conditions... like...wind... and rain... and sleet and snow :) And.... best of all...hills :)

So, make the most of the halcyon days and take it, as ever, slow and steady!

I downloaded the app last year but found just about any excuse not to start. I decided to lose some weight before starting as I may never have attempted it at all. Now I'm 3 & a half stones lighter I'm more motivated!

Looking forward to the rain etc and as you say, staying slow and steady 👍

Yeay...Blooming wonderful...The rain can be so good... I graduated the week before Christmas 2015 and did the programme through lots of wet and cold.. and dark weather... loved it..( except when a white van man tried to drown me :))

Keep posting too.. it is great to have the support and encouragement, it keeps us going through success and set backs too:) So much great advice and tips.. I am still learning... :)
