Pulled a muscle - what next ?

I completed w6r2 but think I've pulled the piriformis muscle in my bum. That was 2 weeks ago. Still have trouble walking. Depressed I can't run as I was enjoying it. What's next ?

Give it time to heal i guess is all you can do. I know where your coming from. I pulled a muscle in my lower back last weekend whilst helping out as a volunteer covering a BBQ from 10am until 5.30pm at a public event. All day cooking over a grill for a huge crowd. When I got home my back felt sore and tired. When I woke up the next morning I was very sore. I also had developed a bad cold.

So I gave it a few days to heal and went out for my run of week 8 run 1 last Thursday. I was exhausted after the 28 minute run and my legs were sore until now. I was low in energy and with a cold, going for that run was not a good idea.

I am feeling better now after a week, so hopefully tomorrow I can get back into it and complete week 8 runs.

Did you try a tennis ball or foam roller? Worked wonders when it happened to me. Also there are stretches you can google. I went from limping to being pain free using those methods. Good luck ! Hope you recover soon.

I have had piriformis problems which manifested as sciatic pain so I know what it's like. I found some exercises to stretch this muscle on t'internet and used those to stretch and it helped with recovery. There were only about 5 exercises but they really made the difference. Search 'piriformis exercises' and see what you find then try a few.
