Week 1 Run 1 completed! Haven't run since school so new to this. Slightly hot atm but feels good lol. Any tips for good running trainers?

New Runner
My tip is to go to a running shop and have a gait analysis. If you're a neutral runner you're lucky - there are loads of shoes out there for you. If, like me, you're a massive over-pronator, picking the wrong shoes could cause so much damage that you'll not be able to run. Start Fitness (startfitness.co.uk) often have real bargains - great shoes but maybe not the most recent version but at massively reduced prices.
I bit the bullet at week 4 and shelled out for expensive running shoes from a proper running shop. Lady in the shop looked offended when I took a deep breath at the prices and said "These are proper running shoes, not trainers". But they are super comfy and at least I know I'm not going to do myself an injury because I've got the wrong shoes on. Once I was sure I'd make it through the program it seemed like a good investment.
Well done for getting out there!
Yes - gait analysis and see what they recommend (then go home and browse the internet!).
So much choice... many folk go to get expert advice... some not...and one brand may not be right for another runner.
I was lucky... just did the wet foot test, before I started...I have normal feet Reassuring
I then researched for an absolute age, made a choice and it was perfect... I have two pairs for lanes and pavements..one at home and one pair kept at my holiday home and two for track and trail..recommended by our wonderful and amazing running friend, Hidden ... ( my favourite runs are off road, fields and hills and beaches :)) I bought my first extra pair because I thought I might wear my first pair out
All Adidas and all bought at a great price... ( discontinued colours or unpopular shades :))
Main thing is, decent running shoes are really essential, but, they don't have to cost the earth
The best shoes for you are the ones that fit well, are comfortable and support your style of running. The advice above is all good, but someone elses recommendation may be totally inappropriate for you, unless they have stolen your body, legs and feet.
