Novice runner!

Just completed my 2nd run of week 1! A complete novice! Feel great but right now just cannot imagine running nonstop for even 5 mins. I think first I will visualise it, see myself completing it and feeling really good for having done it!

Just take it one run at a time... you don’t have to be able to see the top of the staircase to take the first step up.

Welcome... you can do this... enjoy your journey.

Well done, be proud of yourself. I’ve just completed my 3rd run of week 1, and found it a bit easier than the first 2 times, I daren’t think about week 9 as it seems impossible for me. I’ve shocked my friends and family by starting this challenge but they’ve been really supportive so I’m sure I’ll get there....eventually.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

As the others say, take it one run at a time, trust the plan and believe in yourself.

Enjoy your journey.

Welcome to the wonderful world of running.

It was quite daunting when I first started the programme. I couldn’t imagine running for 30 minutes, but I did it.

Take each run as it comes and have faith in the programme. Slow but steady. You can do it.

Good luck and happy running 🏃‍♀️

We are at the same stage! I am not thinking ahead at all, just taking each run as it comes, absorbing all the advice given here, and looking forward to being fitter. Although at the moment I find the running difficult, I am far more energised for the rest of the day, and that’s what I look forward to. Stick with, we’ll be the ones with all the wisdom to pass on soon!

I took it week by week, but really run by run. I never thought I'd do 5 mins and told myself I'd happily stop when I got to 10 mins if that's what my body said.. then I just kept doing it run by run. Still can't believe I managed 30 mins!

You will run for 5, then for 8 then 20 and so on till you reach the magical 30!! The programme is designed to train you physically and mentally for each stage of your journey to 5k/30 mins!! As others have said, congratulations and keep going, each run is a success!

Well done for starting! Take each run at a time, and don’t peek at what future runs contain! I thought I was going to die on w1r1, but I can now run for forty-five minutes! You will too. Trust the programme. It really does work, and this forum is fantastic for support and encouragement, plus helpful tips and advice, and lots of giggles. 😁
