Water bottle?

Does everyone take water with them? I've done 2 runs of w1 and have managed without. So much easier not having a water bottle to carry! But just wondering if 5k without carrying water is ok? Thanks :)

Morning:)

Many of us don't take water for a short run, ( or even longer ones) but this weather, we can never be sure...I went out last week, for an early run on the Coast..before 7 a.m., just a 5K ish.. and had to stop after 3K to buy a bottle! Luckily a small garage shop was open! It was so warm even then..( I don't usually expect the heat in North Wales:))....I ended up sipping some, but mostly rubbing it on the back of my neck and pouring it over my pulse spots on my wrist.

The trick is to make sure you are well hydrated before your run and of course this weather, drinking plenty every day, not just because of your running :)

Realfoodieclub did a post on the hydration issue last summer.. all about the colour of our pee ( sorry, I know it is early!)...but it is useful to be aware of these things...:)

Anniemurph wrote a post on Bridge to 10K about this too... but I stress, that was a much longer run... :)

If you want to be sure, or feel you might like to take a bottle as the weather gets warmer, and more humid, then there are loads of running belts out there.. a few of us have this one.. it has two bottles but in this country I would only use one :)

Hope this is helpful.:)

Happy running anyway :)

I'm on week 6 and have never taken one. I drink before, I drink after and I run hands free!

According to a post I read on here, you don't need to bellow 10k and that seems a very distant target!

Just watch out if weather is very hot, sultry!

Welcome and well done on a great start👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻🏃🏼‍♀️👏🏼🐢🐢

I don't as I don't feel the need. Just make sure I have water before and after.

You won't really need it for 5k runs BUT the running world seems to be divided in to those who manage on very little and those who won't step out the door without a bottle 'just in case'! My sister, who is quite an experienced runner, always takes water, even on a 5k at this time of year - and that is fine! I can't believe how much she seems to 'need' and she can't believe how little I take, even on my long runs! When it's hot however, sipping water is good and also having it with you to splash on your head or down the back of your neck! Go with what feels right for you at this stage 🙂

You will be ok without while doing Couch to 5k. Just be well hydrated before setting off

If you take the car you could stash a bottle of water for when you're done 🙂

Having read the replies, I am surprised. I definitely need water for any run. I think perhaps listen to your own body.

I tried running whilst holding a bottle of water, but I couldn't put up with the water jiggling around. I ended up throwing it and collecting it later.
