I have been out running a few times before without using the app so i last about 15 mins before I had to stop. Been out this morning and did wk1 run1 and felt i could have ran longer so next time I go out could I start from wk2 run1 or not? Thanks x

Personally, I wouldn't. The programme is not just about how much fuel you have in the tank. Each run is building up strength and stamina and preparing you for the next one. The programme really works and, as they say, if it ain't broke don't fix it :) If you go too fast it seems you may risk injury :(

Follow the plan and be patient: Its only 9 weeks after all :)

I agree with Helenwheels, this plan has been carefully designed and progressively takes you to running for 30 mins non-stop and injury free. Its very clever and works, each run building stamina and confidence. It has rest days which are just as important as the runs themselves.

Its great that you are able to run for 15 mins, however this plan if followed correctly will take you much further...and you will enjoy the benefits. Having walking breaks in the earlier weeks of the plan seems to be key in the process of getting to prolonged periods of running.

I did exactly the same as you four years ago, pondered the same question and decided that if the plan was going to deliver 30 minute non stop running in just nine weeks, that I would trust the programme and follow it to the letter.

It worked for me and I concentrated on running as fast as I could, which delivered the bonus of hitting 5k within the thirty minutes.

Sure you could jump ahead, but the discipline of following a training plan is useful for any aspiring runner and you will miss advice on technique and training if you do so.

I wholeheartedly recommend NHS C25K and it works for people of all fitness levels. There are no safe quick fixes. Good luck, whatever you decide to do.

Thank you for your reply. I will follow the app and build up my stamina and hopefully go on to running further in time.

Just, as the others suggest, follow the programme.. slow and steady. Your stamina and running strength will build up safe;y and slowly.

The journey is about progression and about enjoyment too... some extra exercise on rest days may help too.. Strength and Flex, or swimming or walking ?

Start as you mean to go on and you will get there... and we are right here with you :)
