too nervous to run outside (in public)

After week 1 not being horrifically boring, going into week 2 with a sense of I can do this.

Looking to hit the 5K mark with a brisk walk of 7.5 Km/h and for the jog/ run stages 13 Km/h but on a treadmill at 1% incline.

Too nervous to go out running in the park any tips?

I'm just off 6ft and am 102kg of mostly fat.

My thoughts were exactly the same as yours, and I was horribly self conscious for the first few minutes. I decided to go out early in the morning, but soon discovered there were more people around than I expected!

I've decided on a "so what?!" approach πŸ˜ƒ. Really, no one is paying you much attention and if they are they aren't the ones out there trying something new. Give it a go - it's nice to have something to look at outdoors and some fresh air in your lungs!

PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE DON'T feel self-conscious - you are doing something amazing and I'm sure no-one is looking at you anyway - it's just in the mind. I used to feel like that but now I couldn't give a flying doodah what people think! Even if some shallow people are, sod 'em - they're just showing their complete ignorance, don't let anyone get to you for one moment - be proud of what you're doing and of what you will achieve! You go tiger!! xx

Well done! sounds like you are doing OK on the treadmill anyway, carry on with that if it's comfier for you at the moment, but don't worry about other people outside(we all feel a bit self conscious running outside at first, but that feeling goes away) they usually mind they're own business and it would be much better to get outside, especially in the glorious weather although a tad warm when running, as I said, don't worry about anything, just do it!😊

When you run, enjoy the nature.. feel the wind... forget people.. look at birds.. enjoy the silence.

When you run, your body will thank you...start thinking, from head to toe..

" My brain is feeling good..

" My shoulders feeling good...

When you run, you are motivating another 100 people to run.

So go for it :)

If you read through the many posts on the subject you will see you are not alone in being self conscious. It us only a temporary affliction you will be pleased to know πŸ™‚πŸ˜ŽπŸƒπŸ‘βœ”οΈ

Are you not following the C25k programme?

I'm following the C25K program as have a 5k arranged for september to do with my partner, I used to suffer from gym anxiety but everyone is there to do the same thing. Happy to be in there day in day out, but to jog/ run around outside makes me self-conscious.
