Tips for a newbie

I've never jogged in my life before downloading the app. I completed Day 1 of week 2 this morning. Has anybody got any tips for the up and coming weeks? TIA

Go slowly. Don't try to run too fast. Trust the programme. And take your rest days and longer if you need it.

Good luck and welcome 👟👟👟

Well done you, W1 under your belt already.

Just to reinforce what Whatsapp said, keep it slow, slow and even slower if you need to. Always take at least one rest day and believe that the programme will work for you as it has for all those before you. There's lots of support, advice and encouragement to be had on this forum ... it certainly helped me.

It's all about you, doing what's right for you and your body.

Follow the programme to the letter.

Stay really well hydrated (3 litres water/day min, esp day before runs)

Go slower than you start out.

Don't compare yourself to anyone else.

Don't look at what next week's run is, just focus on today's.

Be proud of yourself.

That seems like a lot of water for the average C25K beginner in average weather Rignold - I think my pelvic floor might complain!

Really? That's the bare minimum I drink on non exercise days regardless of weather. You're not obliged to carry it around all day, you can expel as required.

Not as easily as you can, chum!

I have had a night of fever and terrible sweats, and after changing all my bedding etc this morning, I weighed myself on a whim (easier than scales) because I did my weekly weigh-in yesterday and just wanted to see - and lo and behold exactly 3 kg lighter. So yes, I can expel 3 litres of water just by going to bed. (was going to say in my sleep but there was no sleep)

Everything the others have said Alilang. It's very nice to feel a bit in charge of your body/fitness- so well worth it. Go, go, go..,

If you are a woman of any substance, invest in a good sports bra👍

One run at at a time, one week at a time. Some runs might not go to plan but don't let it put you off, just keep going (but not too quickly). Well done for getting started!
