Hoping to graduate next week. I've been looking for the flattest parkrun I can find within a couple of hours of Leeds. Southport is what I've come up with. Any ideas from northern runners? It seems to have lots of runners too - many of them finishing in the same sort of time I'll be doing!
Flattest Parkrun for a newbie: Hoping to... - Couch to 5K
Flattest Parkrun for a newbie
Hartlepool- completely flat along the prom beside the sea, with the waves, breeze & seabirds for company. (Travelodge very nearby if you need.)😄😄
Thanks Elfe5. Never thought of heading east. Hope its not too blowy at end of Jan.
I still haven’t done it! We should meet up!
Excellent!! 😄 I like the sound of that!
I will give you both a “feel good experience” because you will be much faster than me! 😂
Excuse me while I go & give my back a pep talk.... 😄
Birkenhead Park on the Wirral - only 90 mins from you.
Another way to find what you're looking for ... Got to the Parkrun website and look at the course records - the quickest will obviously be the flatest. Sort the women's and men's list by time and see if any are reachable.
You're welcome
John
Warrington ?
Thanks everyone. I'll have a look.
Albert parkrun in Middlesbrough! 1 hour away. I’ll be there and maybe Beachcomber66 ! Someone is doing there 100th parkrun from my club so we’re all having cake and coffee after - welcome to join us!
Selby is very very flat and easy to get to from Leeds.
Hull is another perfectly flat course but is very popular, 500+ runners every week
Albert Park is certainly flattish. All ages and abilities, people with dogs, pushchairs etc. Our local running shop owner calls it PB Park!
Jegmar.com has a list of park runs ranked by total elevation. Selby is first with a total elevation of only 3 feet.
Hull, Southsea, Long Eaton, York, Goole and Crosby are all Northern Park Runs in the flattest 11 courses in the UK.
