Fat ankles and feeling fed up!

So completed W3R3 Saturday and haven't been able to run since. My left ankle is twice the size it should be and getting fatter by the day! I've been told it's a classic new runner Achilles injury and to rest - but for how long?

Had gait analysis and bought new trainers Sunday so just itching to put them on!!

Any advice on how long I leave things? My gut instinct is even if I could, I would probably make things worse if I went out now.

Feeling incredibly frustrated

Don't go out.... ! This made my right Achilles tendon twinge.. I ruptured mine, not running.. fell down stairs... and was in plaster for three months.. ( did not want the op )!

Are you sure it is Achilles related.. ? I only ask, as the commoner running injury tends to be more localised on the back of the ankle and heel..

I found this.. fairly up to date...

Rest anyway... and maybe seek a medical check-out of it :) Hope it sorts :)

Yes definitely reads like tendinitis. The man who did the gait analysis said the problem was my trainers. My ankle is swollen on the sides and very stiff so I'm just going to have to give in and rest it. Trouble is, once I set my mind to doing something, nothing usually stops me ! Patience is not one of my qualities!!!

... I think many of us are the same.. but one thing this programme helps with is patience..:)

I broke my ribs in October.. and the idea of not running... was worse than the initial pain:)

Just thought I'd let you know that I am currently sitting on a heat pad and not moving. You may have seen my post, I thought it was just st a sore muscle that needed stretching but our esteemed experts keep mentioning the s word (sciatica). I really hope not, cos it sounds like that is a long road back and that it can get a lot more painful. One of the helpful link provided several suggestions, one was heat to relax the muscle that's gripping the nerve. Anyway, just to let you know, you are not the only one to be let down by your body today!! 🌟
