I've just completed my first 20min run today - can't quite believe it! I plucked up the courage to go to my local parkrun and I'm so pleased I did. I was worried I'd be the last one, or panic and just overdo it and get injured but I just took it steady for 20mins and power walked the rest! There were so many other people just walking it too. For anyone thinking of trying parkrun whilst you're still training I would definitely recommend it!
Week 5 run 3 - first parkrun : I've just... - Couch to 5K
Week 5 run 3 - first parkrun
Brilliant run, and great you tried Parkrun! Well done on the run and also on sticking to the programme during the run. It's easy to be carried along with the atmosphere and over do it, you didn't so great stuff!
Keep going runner, you are doing so well 🏃🏼♀️🏃🏻👍🏼
I'm similarly at W5R2 point and did my third Parkrun this morning. My elite athlete grand-daughter made me (bullied me??) and made me start Parkrun a little while ago, even though I was still doing the very early stages of the C25K programme. I agree, Parkrun is GREAT, very friendly and for me at least fun and surprisingly totally non-scary. Like you I try to do my C25K programme and then carry on with power walk to the end. Next time, though, I'm going to do my C25K programme warm-up walk before the start because I'd rather start jogging with the mob at the start of Parkrun. I'm still incredibly slow, but HEY!! a new PB today and I knocked over 2 minutes from my previous PB. I never even considered in my wildest dreams that I'd say this, but it's my birthday tomorrow and I'd promised myself another Parkrun as my birthday treat to myself this weekend. Say no more .......
