Hi everyone, I am in Manchester and hopefully starting c25k on Monday 15 May. I am 53 and well over my average weight for my height. Its going to be tough! Anybody else starting from the beginning soon??

I am only on Week2, Run3 and very happy so far (dicky hip and dodgy back and all). The 'slowness' is key - I went out with a family member for Week2, Run2 yesterday and she streaked ahead while I determinedly stayed slow. Anyway, she fizzled out and I carried on through...very very slowly. My ordinary walking speed has improved much more than I anticipated, a bonus. But I did have to eat humble pie on the speed issue! And will no doubt continue to do so. Good luck - keep revisiting the forums, they're very good, I find!

You did right...no streaking! Slow and steady is the only way... it is what the C25K programme is built on :)

Not beginning..but still running...:) Two and a half years on, three times a week :)

So good luck to you and well done for starting this brilliant programme,,, there will be lots of Newbies around, and it is great if you can team up and run together :)

Swapping how it is all going etc can be really helpful... the support you will get from the rest of us on here is great too. Good advice and encouragement. Many of us have been there and someone will know the answer to any question you may have :)

Keep it steady and slow.. that is how C25K is structured... to get you to your thirty minute runs, injury free. Don't be tempted to speed... that is not the idea...and listen to your body. rest days between runs are essential and any other exercise on those days can be beneficial to you :)

Will be watching for your first post Monday!!!

This programme was designed with you in mind 🙂

You will be fine. Just go slowly. That's it 😃

You've done the right thing by choosing C25K- it's the best! I started nearly 9 weeks ago and have almost completed it (2 more runs to go) and never ever thought I'd do it. Follow the instructions to the letter and you won't go far wrong and make sure you've got the right footwear too. You CAN do it! 👍🏼

I have one more run to do week 4. 63 next month and overweight. If i can do it you can. Its great. Just keep it slow and remember a bad run is better than no run!
