Pain in centre of my chest/windpipe

Hi, started in January, been off and on for various reasons. But just done W5 R3. Couldn't manage the full 20 mins. Done about 17. But hey, still an improvement right? I have been getting pain in the centre on my chest though, like in my windpipe. Does anyone know what this is? Or how to avoid it? Thanks

I've not seen/heard anything like that in 3 years of reading and posting on here. I really do think that you need to talk with your GP about this, before running again.

Oh ok ta. Just wondering if I'm not getting my breathing right. I play netball too, so it's not like I'm not active.

I agree with MarkyD.

Well done, I am sure you will soon be back on there, but best to be cautious.

It would be good to see your Doctor to check that out. However, maybe try slowing down, then your breathing can be easy and relaxed. The only other tip I heard was while running, let you arms and shoulders relax, this opens up the lungs more, I often do this while on a run

Happens me when I go too fast - like a burning rod in my windpipe. I have Asthma but you could be totally different so a Doctors exam is necessary to figure out what it might be.

Best check with gp

Could be trapped wind

I was in a lot of chest pain yesterday burps eased it.

It could be indigestion. Running jiggles the middle, and if you are either too hungry or have eaten too soon before a run then it can happen. I get it sometimes especially if running hills, usually between my ribs. My doc told me that anything between the ribs is usually indigestion. Timing food and runs is something you get better at

Or, it could be something else. We are not doctors so this is not a definitive diagnosis 😃

Yep, off to the docs you go. Running seems to throw up various medical stuff, better safe than sorry. Let us know how you get on.
