Been running regular 5k's since graduating but this last week I have developed a pain in my right buttock when running I have continued to run with the pain but it does not seem to be improving, any ideas what might be the cause and what I might need to do to get rid of it?

Pain in the bum

Maybe tight Glutes or Piriformis Syndrome (Runners bum)
If you google you will find lots of stretches that might help

I often wonder what I am doing wrong? I read in many places about people having sore glutes and hamstrings - I don't think I even have these muscles as I am unaware of their existence. I am very aware of my calf muscles though - always have been !
Hi, just a thought .. if it is Piriformis Syndrome my physio recommends stretching, exercises (you can find both on the Internet ) and a hot water bottle. I also have occasional accupuncture.
I had P S before I started running and it hasn't got any worse. If I can feel it when I get home from a run I sit on a hot water bottle while I have my breakfast and that seems to help.
Probably best to get it checked out before it gets worse.
Good luck.

There's always rolling on a 🎾 where it hurts. Stretching and that worked for me.
