Week 7

Hi,

I did week 7 run 1 today but only managed 20 minutes running as my legs were still so sore after the week 6, 25 minute run that I had to walk. Left calf and right thigh are really painful. I have been doing loads of stretching but it does not seem to make much difference. I've done every run fine until now so I'm feeling a bit disappointed with myself. Does anyone have any tips please?

Oh dear, you're doing so well to get to week 7.

Perhaps an extra rest day might help. Also (at the risk of sounding patronising) perhaps slow down, slow is good.

I suffer with piriformis problems (not caused by running) and find if I sit on a hot water bottle it helps ... just a thought.

Thank you, I am quite slow but I might have gone a bit faster at the end of the 25 minute run because I was so glad it was nearly over!

Stretch after every run. Try some heel dips on the stairs.

Also get yourself a foam roller and look up on Youtube how to use it.

Thank you! Keep at it - I can't believe how well the podcasts work if you just keep pushing through you will be running for longer than you ever thought in just a few weeks.
