Training for a 5k following a plan from Garmin. Instead of feeling faster and stronger I feel like I might be getting slower!! Anyone else experience this?
Ever feel like you're getting slower? - Couch to 5K
Ever feel like you're getting slower?
Maybe you are just overdoing it. In my opinion, many of the training plans are better suited to experienced runners and if you are still relatively new to running then you may need more recovery time between runs to avoid exhausting yourself. You can always use the plan as a guide and adapt it to suit your own needs.
The most important thing I had to learn was to slow down. C25K gets your body ready to be a runner, whereas I thought I was already a runner ("Anyone can run, right?") who just needed to get a bit fitter. The aim is to be able to run steadily for 30 minutes, for me that meant not pushing myself so hard I felt I needed to stop. Anything that's not walking is OK, anything faster than that is just a bonus.
Yup, my last two runs have felt slower and slower, I have been feeling a bit on the poorly side though, maybe your body is just taking a little bit longer to recover from the runs now?
I'm same.as.giddy aunts - my last two runs have been slower and really tough. But as I start week 8 tomorrow I just going to concentrate on finishing regardless of how slow I am.
I agree with IannodaTruffe , the training plans can be tricky... Maybe try the C25K programme..not sure where you are on your plan, but you could maybe make a sideways move and carry on.
C25K is so structured, it really does build us up slowly and sensibly
Slow and steady does it, and the rest days too.. are you making sure you take them, but maybe doing some other exercises on those days?
Yes my W8R2 Felt worse than R1 but have now got map my run (free download ) so I will be able to see my pace on R3 compared to R1
Operator error meant I deleted R 1 which annoyed me
Can't believe I've made it through this far .Thought I was going to expire on W1R1
