Hey pops, how you doing? Ok I hope, I'm in a sort of no mans land with the HM training at the mo, doing the work, but not really relishing it, mind you always feel better afterwards,! .....5 weeks to go, it's ok, but I think the cold dreary weather is not doing me any favours.....
Just do the work is my mantra at the moment......😬🏃♀️
I'm okay thanks Madge, a bit flat , but I suppose that's normal . xxx
I totally understand what you mean about the training, it does seem a bit relentless at the time and this weather doesn't help at all, but yes it is soo worth it so your mantra is just perfect ! xxx
Me too! It's taken me a while - I'd like to have been running 10k by now (given that I graduated in August) but 2 stone more than I need (it was 3 this time last year and 10 originally. Oops!), being 56 and long standing muscular-skeletal problems, following a car crash, have made me realise that speed is not the issue, as long as I keep going - and as long as I listen to my body - I will get there!
Errm, you may like to know, I am 53, it's taken me nearly 4 years to get to this point, I am training for my first half marathon at the moment, take your time, no rush, I am very, very, proud of the fact that I can run for 2 hours (10 miles - so far.....) I may be slow, but I have the stamina to just keep plodding. Your body takes longer than you think to understand what you want it to do .
Thanks missw, yep, I'm doing some strength/resistance/weights as well, a bit achy, - not too much but enough to know I've done it, it's just repeat, repeat, repeat....... keep telling myself in 4-5 weeks it will pay off, so just keep going....
I wondered if you'd have a costume for yesterday, very cool! You'd better not wear those leggings for the Resolution race or an envious woman with crazy grey curls might just rip them off your legs....I WANT!!!
Well, I nearly didn't, was thinking of doing Fred and Wilma Flintstone, but as we had more distance to do afterwards thought we might get a few strange looks......not that, that would bother me 😄, I have a selection of wings, not that they help that much....😂
We imagined doing the resolution run - went round the big loop 4 times in all......it ain't goin' to be fast! 😄 That's for sure.....
They're a bit thin those capri's, I've got some with some purple in to match the lovely t-shirt........talking of which, I wore it on a run the other day, it's nice and long, but I'm not sure if people were focusing on the word 'stroke' across my chest and smiling at me or just being nice! 😂
Was it busy yesterday Madge? I'd thought of coming, but what with the Kinetic challenge and running everyday this week I'm sleeping and sleeping... I'll certainly do another one before the race and try and memorise the route, I never take much notice as it's well signed, not sure our race will be. Is it muddy?
BTW I'm feeling my strength return after my second lurgy and giving blood last week, I'll come and join you for your trail soon, my 30 days finish next week.
Over 500 runners yesterday, it was OK, no ice, a bit muddy on the first loop, but not too slippery, it seems like they've cleared a lot of the first loop making it wider so it's not so 'sloppy' and is flatter.
My trail routes are still ok at the moment, but it's warming up a bit and there's some rain forecast so, I'm hoping it won't get too sloppy, glad you're feeling better.
Thanks ar, I hate giving up on anything that I have said I will do, so, I've said I'm going to do this HM, so, despite not really feeling the love right now, the work still needs to be done, and so it will.....I'm sure I'll get over this feeling soon, especially as the next couple of weeks tick by......😱
Thanks Jan, I don't know about 'lovely', makes me laugh how people are so self critical of photos, we should be proud of how our bodies can move and the strength we can build, it's not pretty, but I am still proud of it. 😄
2 hours of running! I am well-impressed. And 4 years that must have changed your life. I hope I'm still running 4 years in - maybe then I'll look into a half-marathon! Love the inspiration from the more experienced runners, it really helps!
Thank you very much, it's funny it doesn't seem that long - 4 years.....but it's surprising how the time ticks by.....slowly but surely....😄....if someone had said to me when I started...oh you will run a HM, I would never have believed them.....
Fabulous photos Madge! You're definitely in the air in both! Love your space invaders capris, brings back memories! Keep going with your HM training, whatever the weather
Thanks Flossie, feeling a bit better now as it starts ramping up a bit now..........one run at a time, and more to think about.....fuelling etc.,....which I like....
