If anyone finds it can I have it back please? Ran for 20 minutes but just felt I'd got no energy left so ended up doing a mix of walking (mostly!) and running until I hit 5k. I'm wondering if I need to go back to Laura and week 9 until I'm back running for the full 30 minutes.
Mojo gone missing.,.: If anyone finds it can I... - Couch to 5K
Mojo gone missing.,.
Anything change? Stress, food, hydration, illness? Sometimes the body just needs to be listened too, other times (assuming its mind over matter) you just need to push through it - i generally do this by forcing my partner out on a run with me. Perhaps listen to a podcast or something as a distraction - it requires more attention than music. Perhaps you also just need a bit of a break, the body does every now and then. You'll get your mojo back.
How long have you been confidently running 5k? You may want to have some shorter runs in the week not all 5k's?
Nothing much has changed except my runs have been a bit erratic lately due to my shifts and other stuff going on...have started going to tennis coaching once a week when I might have gone running, for example. So maybe just out of practice and I need to just grit my teeth and get on with it! Also, this one was on the treadmill, so possibly boredom was a factor. I was watching i-player but think I'm better with music and scenery.
Sometimes I get like this and it feels like the worse run in the world it takes loads to get my legs moving and it's usually the first mile or so and it can be so annoying
I'm also like this if I've not been hydrating enuf
Also have u had yr iron levels checked
Hope u have a better run next time
I second Joanna_d1977 as this happened to me late last year. I went to my gp as I already have thyroid issues and was due a blood test for that anyway. I also had my iron checked and other things and I am severely anaemic (88 should be 150) and vit d deficient. Since taking the meds I've felt like a different person and had so much more energy to run, no more lead legs half way round.
I hope things pick up for you soon.
I've had a couple like this this week - when I looked at my stats on Garmin, I found I was going too fast in the first 2k and then literally running out of 'juice'!! So I'm going to try slowing down (I've found some music with a slower bpm which hopefully will do the trick!). I figured that running for 20 minutes (and run/walking the rest) was better than not running at all!
This happens to all of us at some time - sooner or later!! I recently read something - when mojo goes missing - put your shoes on and get out the door (that's that hardest part done!) after a walking warmup, run until you feel like walking, walk until you feel like running again, rinse and repeat until you feel like stopping - then walk home. You will feel much better when you get home
Hi Vangus, I too have felt like this for a few weeks and was only running for about 20mins and not particularly enjoying it. I went out early Sat morning with the intention of bringing Laura with me again but for some reason stuck my music on instead and ran 5k!! I wondered if I'm better suited to running early morning on an empty stomach but for me that's only doable at the weekend. I'm not going to beat myself up though cos I'm proud of myself for getting out three times per week regardless of distance. Did wonder though if having structure of Laura would be helpful every so often?
You can if you like? It's really nice having Laura back and mixing things up occasionally. Some days it just doesn't work and that's ok. It's good to mix up shorter and longer runs so don't worry. A walk/run is better than no walk or run!
