I did it! (Almost....)

Just did my first C25k run this morning. Found it really hard going tbh so am hoping it gets easier! I think I went wrong with my choice of running venue - my local park - which is quite hilly. A lot of the running intervals that were on a hill I really struggled with and was stopping to walk a few seconds before I was supposed to...

Onwards and upwards eh!!!!

Keep at it - it will get easier, and you'll be amazed at how quickly you see your fitness improve! Soon enough you'll be running up those hills without stopping, and remembering back to this first run... ;) Obviously if you do have somewhere flatter to run, too, that's no bad thing - mixing up your routes adds variety and challenge. :)

Well done for getting started, and if you can find flatter routes that might help. You'll be surprised how much progress you make over time. I was convinced I'd never be able to run at all, but persevered with the podcast and surprised myself. Good luck for run 2.

Running is tough. Hills are tougher. Keep at it and you'll love when you run a flat route - hills build loads of fitness.

They do indeed but they can be too hard for fledgling runners, and demoralising. Run on flat for now if you possibly can ☺

A hill... on your first run... go you! I don't think I would have managed that. Maybe find somewhere a little less taxing until you've built up your stamina? Congrats on starting, you're going to love it.

Thanks so much all! Yeah, am going to stick to flatter terrains for the next few runs, and then try a hillier place when I start to notice an improvement in my fitness levels :)

Great to get started though!

Welcome and well done for getting started! C25k is such a great programme. Following it is one of the best decisions you will ever make! Hills are hardcore. I'd stick to the flat if you can during the programme and then use the hills once you've graduated or if you fancy a challenge!

Go slow, stretch, take your rest days and listen to Laura. You'll be a runner before you know it!

Well done on the hills, I'm just on week 2 and the slight incline in the park I'm using is bad enough for me at the moment! Hats off to you :D
