Joined a running club (to keep me motivated) and ran 5 miles!

It can be difficult post-graduation to remain motivated and with the dark nights finding time to run was proving to be difficult. So I decided to join the local running group. Turned up last night (new girl syndrome) and they were all very friendly and encouraging. I joined the slowest group (12 minute miles) and head off feeling anxious. I never thought I'd run 5 miles, and I know I wouldn't have done it on my own, but I'd recommend this as a 'next step' if you're finding the post-grad runs tricky.

Good for you! It sounds like a lovely running club.

Did they get you doing different things or did you to a steady 5 mile run. Pleased to hear that the running club will keep you motivated over the winter months.

We just headed out and followed the leader... and kept going!

That sounds like a cunning plan. Well done. I might investigate something like that. I would like something reasonably flexible because of not being able to commit to regular times. But "food for thought" .

We're invited to go for a few weeks to try it out before committing to it but I am already very impressed. You can run with them every day of the week if you want . They are very welcoming and friendly - we couldn't have asked for more👍🏻

It is considering that we'd only just managed 5K once before we did this. It just shows you that once you can run for 30 minutes you make pretty swift progress and you can always do a little bit more! 🐢👣🏃🏿
