You may have already read that Fazzical has now graduated but thought I'd update you all with my progress too. I'm slowly getting faster, I can now manage 5k in 37 minutes so that elusive 30 mins is starting to feel achievable. I've conquered the hurdle of running in the dark - I bought one of the chest lamps mentioned on here somewhere and can't recommend it enough. I hated the idea of a headlamp so it's perfect and gives really good vision too. Although it wasn't properly charged when I went out on Monday and a tree root leapt out of the gloom and sent me sprawling π‘π‘. No real damage done - just a bit bruised not least to my ego but the big bonus of running in the dark - no one saw me trip π
Fazzical and I went to training session by the RLSB a couple of weeks ago, photo kindly taken by them outside the Olympic velodrome. It was really inspiring and we had a go at blindfold cricket too which was great fun. There is a photo of that on our fundraising page too at justgiving.com/Martine-Dave Assuming I've pasted the link properly! I've just read Ullyrunner 's post about the fog and was reminded of Dave's comments at training, he's the one in the blindfold! , as soon as the blindfold went on he felt as if his hearing was amplified. I guess the fog has a similar effect.
We know we can both achieve the full 5k on 6th November but don't expect to run all the way , we've found it more tiring than normal running. It's a really good experience though. We also need our 5 minute warm up walk so will start with that to find our stride and hopefully then run all the way to the finish line π Looking out for you too McFitty π
We've just had our final outing of the year in our little tin tent too. We took it to Rendlesham Forest and this time actually went running together, well I followed fazzicals back - his legs are longer than mine !
I really must buy a new fleece - I used to fill that grey thing ππ
Happy running everyone!
