As a follow up to Anniemurph's brilliant post, my daughter works for the Royal London Society for the Blind and they organise an annual blindfold run to raise awareness and funds.
It's in November this year and if any of you fancy giving it a try I have attached a link below
You're not going to believe this Ullyrunner ..... went to the page, thought, that looks amazing, and now my son has just agreed to be my 'guide' for the blindfold 5k! Just going through the sign-up process now! Thank you (I think) for the link
Brilliant, McFitty - you will be fantastic! If I can do it, believe me, anyone can! I am so slow and such a wuss about trying new things, you will ace it
I know. Maybe we need C25K hats or balloons ! One of my husbands friends has already sponsored us but promised more if he is the one blindfolded not me! Can't wait for the leash and blindfold to arrive. 😀😀
I think this is the race we're training for! I hadn't realised it was an actual race, I hadn't realised it was quite so soon and my guide and I live a hundred miles or so apart so can't train together, I hadn't realised about the sponsorship required... but hey!
Just checked it out Ullyrunner I might see if hubby aka @fazzical is up for it. Hopefully he will be a graduate by then too! I might have to get him in the blindfold though. As I'm eventually going to be in need of a guide I'm not sure I'm ready for a practice run yet! 😀😀
Well Fazzical has agreed and we are now signed up for our first ever official run and one of us will be blind folded - he's playing hard to get on who but I have time convince him I'm a good guide 😀😀👏👏
This is amazing! Well done to those who have signed up. A friend we know is gradually losing his eyesight and has been experimenting with running guides. How lovely that people can still have the opportunity to do something they love.
