Happily plodding along to the goal

Well abandoning the wrist watch really has helped. Two runs this week without caring about time. Run 1 on Tuesday 38:47 minutes 4.8km so that was encouraging, an extra 6 minutes and it didn't seem too bad. With that in mind a slight change to the end of this evening's run and I discovered I'd run for 40:50 minutes, slightly slower than run 1, but........5.02km. I'm feeling a little smug, especially as it was a tough day at work then the traffic was awful so I got home changed and got on with it. I really won't be pushing for too much more for a while. I need to make sure I can keep this up first but I'm feeling good and so much better than 3 months ago. It will soon be time to sign up for a park run though.

Happy running everyone- stick to the program then try to mix it up.

Not a bad pace, so well done.

And I think you are right. Repeat the distance for a couple of weeks for it to become the 'norm'.

then you can find ways to increase your speed/extend your distance or both :-)

Thank you. And that's what I was trying to say 'the norm'

Yes I'm loving it. Well I am then I'm not, then I am then I'm not, then I am............you know what I mean?

We can over compete with ourselves sometimes, that nagging feeling that we are not "doing it quite right, should do better" :) But patience with ourselves such as we would have for another can save the day - and the injuries ;)

Well done you. Good attitude ☺ Parkrun is wonderful, so get going with it sooner rather than later. You could volunteer first just to get a feel for it, and see what it's like ☺

Parkrun is amazing. I worry that some on here fear that Parkrun is just for athletes!

That could not be further from the truth. They are incredibly social and supportive.

Some at my local use it as a social dog walk (maybe a tad faster)! Many push pushchairs. My brother-in-law runs with his one year old son on his back (in a baby carrier :-D).

Get signed up... Print your barcode... Get to the park for 08:45... Enjoy youself!

Well done on your times a distances. Ditching the watch is a good idea, just enjoy the running.
