W8R1 done tonight with some new running shoes, wow it made a difference. I reported earlier I was getting some foot pain which is still there but only when I'm walking. I feel sure it must have been due to the trainers I was using before not giving enough cushioning? The run was tough, for sure, but the shoes helped a lot. And ... unbelievably ... Google maps tells me the run was about 4.5k. Can't believe it, a few weeks ago I was relieved to get a break after 3 mins :). What a great program - thanks for letting me share my journey here.
Quick question ... how does this forum know when someone graduates? (Yep - I want that badge in 2 weeks time!)

Well done! You're absolutely right, proper trainers are so important! Have you had a gait analysis too which works out what kind of support you need? I'm just on the back end of eight weeks on the injury couch due to rubbish trainers so you've made the right decision!
Our amazing forum fairies keep an eye on your progress and your badge magically appears after you post your mandatory celebration post on completing W9R3. If it doesn't appear, then you comment on the pinned post to the right (or at the bottom if you're on the mobile site) called Graduation Badge September, tell them you've graduated and you get your badge!
NB. Don't want to spoil the magic, but the forum fairies are actually Poppypug, RFC and Ju-ju. Although it's nice to think the fairies are real, we also want to acknowledge and appreciate our administrators efforts!
