Well that was the hardest yet, I was set for a run in the rain but then the sun came out so it was quite warm and windy. I just found tonight's run really really hard and I actually had to stop at 25 minutes and take a minutes break as I found myself facing a hill and I just gave in to the gremlins. I really couldn't of gone much slower, I only did 2.2 miles in the 28 minutes, shall I stick to week 8 and not progress to week 9, I just can't imagine running for 30 minutes 😒
W8 R3 ahhhh: Well that was the hardest yet, I... - Couch to 5K
W8 R3 ahhhh
That's exactly my pace! I did 2.2 miles in 28 minutes last week. Twice. Today I did 2.3 miles in 30.... Not even 4K. I would say do one more week 8 run before moving on . I struggled with 9-1 tonight - it was much harder than week 8 and somehow I didn't expect it to be. But if I can do this you can too. ..
It's odd isn't it that by the end of week 7, having run, in effect, 4 lots of 25 minutes, we feel almost semi invincible. I know I was surprised at how much harder week 8 was and surprised again at week 9. I think after smashing 25 minutes, we feel we can do anything. And actually, we can...but it's where we have to dig deep and draw on every trick in the book! I think if I'd been facing a hill at the end of week 8 run 3, I might have had to have a bit more than a minutes break! If you do run 3 again Claire, can you map you run to avoid having that hill at the end? Or at all?
I'm glad I'm not alone, I'd hoped that by run 3 I'd of been thinking weh hey bring on that extra 2 minutes but alas the last 5 minutes of any run seem to kill me and the thought of adding on another 2 whole minutes would be enough to push me over the edge. I'm contemplating a more downhill route for my next run but I think I will stick to week 8 for now.
...or maybe just take an extra rest day?
