Day one - second attempt🐌🐌🐌🐌

Just about to start week one again after reaching week three in May and dropping out aftqer a) buddies left me b) felt silly struggling and gasping down the road whilst slim beautiful nubile things made me feel like an old hag and c) knee pain due to running in Β£5.00 trainers......well they all do the same job don't they?πŸ€”. Obviously not after the injury. Anyway have decided to pluck up the courage to try again and this time alone so no one can let me down, I will look straight ahead whilst panting for my last breath, looking at no one and yay I have new trainers? Β£70!!!! That is enough of an investment for me to keep me going. I feel very apprehensive at the thought of failing again but here goes🐌🐌🐌🐌

  • Well done for starting again. I hold onto the concept 'there's no such thing as failure, only feedback' - it puts a different slant on things for me. Do what you need to do to keep going (it's different for all of us). I love running on my own, it's my time. Have fun...

  • To the lovely person who just 'liked' me thank you sooooo much. Never ever posted anything before and assumed no one would read me. Oh blast I really do need to get my new trainers dirty now don't I!!!! It is starting to seem all real. When I bought the trainers I was thinking Paula Radcliffe now I am thinking maybe tomorrow...... nooooo I must go out or hubby will moan forever about 'another fad'. Deep breath and here goes....... not shorts though, definitely NO shorts, joggers all the way down 🐌🐌🐌🐌

  • You can do it - you really can. Doing it on your own has its upsides. No one to keep up with or worry about. Just you (and the loads of people on here who will be behind you every step of the way). I would have given up long ago without this forum, so come back and post about everything, good runs, bad runs, worries, how dirty your new shoes get... There is a plethora of inspirational people on here who have answers to questions, words to lift you, calm you and encourage you. Go for it :)

  • Every run is training for the next one, whatever your level or experience, so there is always something to learn from any situation. Don't post on here if you want to be ignored. We are lining up to cheer you on and offer any support you feel you need.

    I believe you are better off doing C25k by yourself, because it enables you to find your own natural pace, without either pressuring or being pressured by someone else.

    You can do this. Keep us posted.

  • Well done for giving it a second go! This time you will get all the way to the end. Remember, there will always be someone younger, faster, more fit and agile but that also means there will be someone older, more overweight, with more physical issues to contend with. If they have managed to complete the programme, so can you! Make this journey about you and in a couple of months time you will be amazed at how far you've come. Go slow, stretch, listen to Laura and you'll be a runner in no time. Do make use of the fantastic advice and motivation available to you from the people on the forum and let us know how you're doing so we can celebrate your successes with you. You can do it! :)

  • Well done you for getting the new trainers and starting again. There will be no stopping you and we are all rooting for you!!

  • It is different for different folk but forme running on my own is the only way to go. Keep it slow, keep it steady. You will do this. A photo of new trainers is required it seems. How about a before and after once you have got them dirty.

  • Well done for posting, well done for getting the right trainers, and especially well done for deciding to get back out there :) melly4012 is so right, there is always someone faster, slimmer, better etc. but you're doing this for you so never mind them, just get on with it! Take it slowly, and if you're struggling, slow down even more. The running action is different from the walking action so to start with you may well find you think you can walk faster than you are running. That's fine. The aim is to complete the programme. Then you can go faster/further/race if you want to. The point is that by that time you will be running for 30 minutes :) Good luck, and keep posting!
