(title will make sense if you read my previous post: healthunlocked.com/couchto5... ;-)).

Nice to have finished the run after my unexpected absence, but the run itself felt very hard - started too fast, legs felt like concrete blocks.

Still, it really was nice to be back. Once I realised I was going too fast I thought I might continue - you can see the pace dropping but I managed a personal best of 7.31/K. So that was quite nice :-).

I also stopped just after 5K rather than run the entire 'there and back' at Bradgate Park which is closer to 6K.

In my new plan of running every day tomorrow is going to be a _slow_ recovery run, as in I am going to stick to my newly-acquired cadence of 160 and stay in the easy/aerobic heart rate zone, even if I end up having to walk some of it.

So, back on track (pun intended ;-)).

And thanks for everyone's support - love (in a manly, happily married, platonic way) you guys/girls!

So glad you got back out there - hope the next one goes well πŸ˜€

Am guessing you love you gadgets and tech as does my Hubbie. Might amuse you to know I'm gradually "acquiring" his stuff. First his Bluetooth headphones (left mine in a pocket and they didn't survive the laundry !). Then his Fitbit so I could accumulate points with bounts now I'm after his smart watch to time my runs. πŸ˜€ Are there any other useful running accessories I wonder.

Happy running.

Thanks :-). Which bluetooth headphones do you use? I tried some of those that go right into the ear and every footstep sounded like a bass drum being kicked.

I guess your next gadget will be a heart monitor? ;-).

KS Outrun is what they say on the side. Must admit they are much better than the ones I washed πŸ˜‡ Don't hear my footsteps either but that could be coz I'm breathing so hard so might wait for heart monitor till the readings might not be so alarming! Don't think he has one of those for me to "borrow" though πŸ˜€

Well done on getting back out there. Show those "blues" who the boss is. It is hard to prevent them showing up but we can always try to take action to banish them. Go you 😊

Welcome back! Glad you've got a plan, but don't overdo it! Running every day is for those who've been running longer than us and you can burn out easily. Plus it might be difficult to get the necessary variety. I like my weekly runs to be different to shake things up a bit ("normal" 5k, fast interval run and one longer run. If I can get 4 days in I would do another 5k). On my non-running days I go for a walk, obviously shorter, but about the same length of time. It ensures I keep a routine and have to get up at the same time every day. Getting out every morning also sets me up for the day! But I don't think I could run every day!

Well done that man! Back on the journey...wherever it is going to take you :)

Please...be sensible with your runs...( Mum voice), I do not really have the experience to advise, but steady as you go ?

You go out there, it was not plain sailing, ( this is developing a nautical theme), but you did it anyway! Go you!

Well done, that is still an impressive run to me! I'm wondering if your plan to run every day is to get out of taxi duties?! But seriously, that was quite a hurdle you jumped after such a low few days.

OK, enough soppy stuff. On to tech! I run with a pair of these:

amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B011CA...

They stay firmly in my ears and I don't hear the annoying thump thump of my strides I get with ordinary earphones.

Ermm, time to post I think about my search for a running watch...

Glad you are back running. Maybe running every other day and something else in between- walk/ swim/ strength and flex? That way you keep exercise routine but get chance to recover? Anyway, whatever you decide it's good to hear you more positive again. Keep running. Keep fighting off the blues. Keep being Yatesco.
