Week 3 Run 1 in the rain.....

On to week 3 after a four day rest....found the thought of 2 x 3 min runs daunting and not an inspiring day to run as grey and drizzly but just made myself get out there

Started off great, nice and steady. On the second 3 minute run it got hard and my calves ached but Laura said it would be tough and reminded me how good I would feel if I completed it - so I did :-)

Found the hedge thing funny and clever and enjoyed the rain too

I really didn't believe I'd get this far so feeling really chuffed :-)

The hedge thing! I was thinking as she said it, "the speed I'm going, no one would believe I was running at all!" Week 3 was the hardest for me, I couldn't believe I was expected to run for 3 minutes...twice. Well done on keeping going through the calf pain, you deserve to feel really chuffed. Keep on keeping on, you'll soon be running for longer than you ever dreamed possible :)

You're doing so well. I've never tried it myself, but a lot of people who suffer with tight calves use foam rollers or rolling pins to ease the muscle, it could be worth a try? Epsom salts baths are also really good to relax those muscles too.

I'm liking the sound of the bath salts :-)

I'll often sneak into a warm bath with loads of Epsom Salts it really does work. The trouble is I can't lay in the bath I get bored so I have to have a good book to read, the next thing is I shiver & the water's gone cold.

Well done lightweightkate. I have W3R1 tomorrow and have been a bit nervous of the 3min runs, but your comments are a help. I'm also reminding myself that I will be heading homewards, which is downhill, by my second 3min run. Looking forward to hearing from Laura about the hedge! 🤔

I was going to ask what the hedge thing is but I'll save myself for the surprise. I have W2R3 on Monday then away for a few days so W3 R1 will be on Friday....

I should prob qualify being away by saying I am at the Edinburgh fringe festival so running up and down high street without steamrollering innocent Far Eastern tourists is not an option! If I were away somewhere non-urban non-crowded maybe I would have plucked up the courage to do that first outside run....
