I'm a walker πŸ˜ƒ

So, it's been 3 (or possibly 4) weeks since I graduated at my first and only park run. 2 weeks since I saw physio for first time about my dodgy knees and achilles.

Was banned from running and given a heap of exercises to do. 2nd visit on Saturday and knees have improved and work started on achilles but still no running allowed.

This put me in a bit of a quandary as I'd signed up to run 30 miles in may for macmillan. I'd managed 6 before I hit the IC. So it was quite clear that even delaying the rest of the runs into June may not solve the problem. So I came up with a different challenge.

I asked my lovely sponsors if the would mind if I split the remaining 24 miles into 2 walks which will complete on the bank holiday weekend. I did the first walk today and it was 14 miles. It took me 5.5 hours but it was the furthest I've ever walked and it was fab.

Maybe I won't ever be a runner again but I'm definitely a walker πŸ‘£πŸ‘£πŸ‘£

Well done- that's serious mileage and for a really good cause.

Thanks! Gutted I can't run but really enjoyed this. I think I may have to crawl to work in the morning 😣

Awww, good for you. No-one would have minded about sponsoring you, but it's great you found a way to "earn" it, well done BB xx

Oh no, sorry to hear this. But it's great you're not giving up! Well done on the walking, that's some serious mileage! Hope you don't feel too bad today! X

Well done that's great. You could be like me after you get clear of the IC. I do both. You use different muscles when you walk and I find the two complement each other. I love walking so much when I was on the IC last year I started speed walking and now my running pace and walking pace are only 1min per Km difference. Good luck with your physio.

Walking is excellent and meditative. And good exercise! Well done on the long trek.

I love a nice, long walk but that's some serious walking! Surely your knees must be getting better if you can do all that. You know, a doctor told a friend of mine the best exercise she could do for dodgy knees was walking uphill for half an hour daily.

Thanks everyone. Was a little stiff this morning but only a tiny bit, so that was good. It's nice to be able to do something else to keep (get) fit whilst on the IC and I did really enjoy it.
