I did w7r1 on monday. I felt ok afterwards then the back of my right knee started aching, I'm not sure if the running is to blame or maybe the garden. I planned on doing w7r2 today, but thought it wise to rest instead. It doesn't feel too bad now, but I'm not feeling too good overall as my kids have brought a bug home. I'm not sure if I should run or not tomorrow? I'm eager to get going again though.
What should I do?: I did w7r1 on monday. I felt... - Couch to 5K
What should I do?
That pain could be coming from your hamstrings (back of thighs). Make sure you stretch well. Lie on your back with you legs straight and pull one leg up in the air keeping your knee slightly flexed. Hold for 30 seconds and repeat on other leg.
See how you feel tomorrow morning but if you're catching a bug then you might not be up to a run for a few days. Just rest. The roads will still be there and there's no hurry.
Thanks. I haven't been stretching, but I will try the stretch you mention. Should you stretch after each run?
Ice it
An extra day or two's rest won't put you back nearly as much as running when you're ill. As Laura is always saying "Listen to your body" (just make sure you can hear it properly over the Gremlins)
Maybe go back to intervals and see how you feel. If it feels awful stop! Better to have a couple of days off rather than weeks
