First 5km

Hi,

I don't usually post to the forum, but am an avid daily reader and love all the tips and advice. Today was W8 R3 for me, in glorious Scottish sunshine. For the last 3 or 4 runs I've felt ok to carry on running beyond the planned time and I've been getting to 4km around the 29 min mark. Today I decided to keep going a bit longer and managed my first ever 5 km in 36 mins 13 secs. I'm still totally shocked at how much my running has come on during the program  - I've become quite evangelical about it and I'm sure my friends and family are sick of hearing about it. At the start of the program I set myself a target of running 5km consistently in 40 mins or less before signing up for my first park run  - I know speed is not important, but I'm still really chuffed with my time today. Plan is now to do first park run on 7th May - I've written it down now so need to do it!

Happy running everyone!

Fantastic!

That first 5k feels good, eh? Mine was a little over 41 mins at the start but 40 mins was my first 'goal' too. How great that you completely smashed it already!!

Keep going :)

well done, I've just recently done the same, an extra few minutes here and there, its still unbelievable we can just add on a few minutes and think nothing of it when three or four weeks ago running a whole 3 minutes was tough! Where about in Scotland are you? I'm in Perthshire but nearer Dundee than Perth, we've had glorious sunshine here too!
