Shoes? WK3R2

I am doing WK3R2 today and have started wondering when should I consider going to a specialty store and being fit for a pair of running shoes?  At what point did you decide it was time to spend the money?  I plan to stick to running, but I don't want to jump the gun until I am a bit more experienced.  Thoughts?

I had an old pair that I thought would be okay, but after a week of shin splints I went to my local sports shop who did a gait test and recommended a mid-range pair of trainers. Yes, they were pricey (£95) but my old pair was £75 when I bought them years ago. Even if you don't buy from the shop you'll get some recommendations of they type of trainers you need.

Thanks!  So far I haven't noticed any issues running in the shoes I have, but I don't want to get to that point either! haha.  There are two local stores that I may try for a FIT analysis.

That was interesting!  Thanks! I believe I will definitely wait a bit now since I am having no issues is my Nike's.

Difficult one to decide when is the right time to have a gait analysis done, i waited till I had graduated

If your currrent running shoes appear to being ok and no niggles ,stick with them for a while longer .

You can get your gait analysis done but don't have to buy new shoes straight away  and it always pays to shop around once you know what type is best suited to you

Go with what Rob say's. My wife on w5 is using a cheapo neutral pair and has no problems....She wants a nice posh pair when she graduates though! lol..😊

Sounds like my kind of idea!  Thanks!

Yep I agree with Rob too .

If your shoes arent giving you any problems , stick with them . You can treat yourself when you graduate to a new pair of runners if you fancy it . Plus you have to put a pic up on here, its the law ! :-)

Keep going, youre doing great ! :-)

I have just bought a very cheap pair for £15 with the intention of treating my self to a decent, properly fitted pair at a later stage.  I too was wondering when it would be best to invest and like the idea of rewarding myself when I complete week 9.

I love the idea of a reward.  I am a bit of a shoe hog so I am going to work at holding back on a new pair until I complete week 9, as well!  It will be a great reward!  :-)

I would. After all you deserve it. You got off the couch right?

I have expensive shoes and cheap shoes. So far the cheapers are the best. NB $50. I have three pairs of them. Magic.

I got shin splints in W2, apparently because I over pronate, and my shoes had no give. I've had no problems since, but of course you can't prove a negative...Most good sports shops will give a refund on shoes up to 28 days, (check first) so you've got nothing to lose.
