Thanks to all the support I received on my initial post I finally did it. W1R1 complete. My face is beet red. I have a slight headache. I can't feel my legs. And Laura's taste in music had me running as if I could run away from it BUT I did it. Thanks to all of you.

W1R1 - conquering my fears

I hate to tell you, but while the running gets easier and more enjoyable, Laura's music never does ;). Well done on completing the hardest run.
Well done for starting and taking the hardest step. Onwards to run 2 😀
Well done. That was the hardest run for me I think and took me three goes!
Well done! It's a great feeling having completed your first run isn't it!
I must be the only person who doesn't have a huge problem with Laura's taste in music, it's not what I'd normally listen to but I think I'm just not noticing it enough to annoy me as im concentrating so hard on not falling over and not stopping!
Re: headache, slight dehydration maybe? I get a headache if I'm dehydrated slightly anyway, running probably exaggerates things.

If you're not enjoying the music, you can at least have fun trying to guess which band(s) the music is trying to emulate. There are a couple of obvious U2 and Arctic Monkeys rip-offs in there, among others!

Wooooo fantastic!!!

AMAZING!!!
Well done! Given everything you said on your 1st post, that's an extraordinary and courageous step you've taken.
Respect!
And good luck for W1R2
Where in the world are you incidentally?
John

Go you
Huge step to actually get out there and get started, well done.
Initial niggly feelings after but I bet you felt great a few hours later though!
Have a good rest for a day or two and good luck for run 2

Well done for getting started - often the toughest bit!

Excellent stuff! The music gets worse I'm afraid, but it's a rite of passage!

Woo-hoo!! You go, girl!!

First of all - well done! That's great stuff and such an achievement...it's daunting to start with but you can do it and it's surprising what your body will allow you to do. Sometimes the brain is the biggest stumbling block...I found that on numerous occasions it was my brain that I had to try and learn to control (either by focussing really hard or letting it wander to something else entirely) but my body had no problems keeping up.
With regards to the music, if you're struggling with Laura's music choices then downloading the app might help instead of listening to the podcasts. It allows you to pick your own music from your phone but will quieten down so that you can still hear Laura when she pops back in every now and again.
Once again really well done. I've now completed the full 9wks and am running 5k - sometimes 6k - about 3 times a week! If you'd have told me I'd be doing that when I started I would never have believed you but the brilliance of couch25k is that it increases in stages and gets you repeating the same run 3 times so that you're really comfortable running that distance by the time you move on. Stick with it and have faith in the plan - if I can do it, so can you!
