OMG That was hard and embarrassing - panting like a dog down the street, how unfit can one be! I turned 50 last week and didnt think i was going to finish it but i just did it and its just taken me 10 minutes to stop the heavy breathing. Reading these fantastic posts will keep me going for the future. Thanks eveyone , PS Just loving the music on the podcasts....

Well done just make sure you're going slow as you can that should help with your breathing 😊😊

well done - starting is the hardest thing I think!

as for the age thing, there are younger than you that couldn't do it either

Well done for getting started! After a while you're going to find that recovery gets a lot quicker, my breathing still sounds a bit alarming but I care less what I look and sound like! 😂

Hey massive well done, totally with you on the " what do i look like " mindset, i did w1r2 this morning and missed one run out coz someone was walking their dog and would see me doing my thing so i had an extra walk till theyd gone 😂 think once my confidence builds and im not so worried about my bottom wobbling i won't care 😂 we can SO do this 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃‍♂️

You will be stunned by your progress! 6 months ago I was that bright red, sweating, puffed out 50+ yo - so don’t worry, this is for you & you will be a runner before you know it! It’s an incredible journey - good luck. Oh, and if you need to, just slow down - your brisk walk can be faster than your run!

Dont forget to run at a pace where you can run and hold a conversation. This.run.can.be slower than your brisk walk pace. That is the best bit of advice I took from this forum. I hope you didn't have to phone anyone after your run with your heavy breathing.

Well done. I'm only just starting out too and can relate to your post totally :)

Well done for getting started with the couch to 5k! 👏 Everyone starts in much the same way Dawnie, and you'll probably be surprised to see how much quicker you will be able to recover within only a few weeks 😊 I look forward to hearing how run 2 and 3 go

Well done on getting started, I was like puffing billy when I started out, going up a hill did not help matters either. I would not say I glide up the hills now, but it gets easier every time. Good luck with it all and let us know how you get on.

Ps I used to go early in the morning as I did not want anyone to see me, there I was with a headlamp torch, now I’m out in my lycra and I don’t care who sees me, 66 and wearing Lycra my how it does stretch!
