A group of us wanted to go hiking in the alps today. So all up nice and early. The weather report has changed overnight though, very windy, "hurricane"-like gusts in the mountains and after a quick consultation sense has prevailed and we've called it off. It's going to be a sedate walk along the river later in the day. Hubby has gone back to bed and I'm catching up on posts and trying to work off my frustration. Normally we're lucky with the weather, but this year is against us a bit. Oh well, I still get to stretch my legs in good company, it won't be particularly knackering and I can pull my next run forward to tomorrow. But I was looking forward to a good yomp up a mountainside!

Hiking frustration
Urggg how annoying but sounds like a sensible decision. Enjoy your holiday, what a beautiful place to be... 😎
Sounds like the right decision. Respect for nature and all that. Hope you have a great day with the river walk instead
Look at you all casual "I'm going for a hike in the alps" 😄
Sensible decision to cancel though, there'll always be another day. You're so lucky to have that Kind of scenery in your doorstep 💟
It's a bit posy isn't it? Had a great walk along the local river in Munich (The Isar). You can walk about 35 km in either direction from the centre of Munich. We went about 15 k (in total) on pretty rough terrain - the path was washed out years ago and is pretty up and down, over stones, jumping over little streams, climbing over fallen trees etc. The main path for the cyclists and joggers is a bit higher up and easier, but the people we were with are super fit and always take the most difficult route. We were all tired at the end though! Still want to get to the Alps again soon - I'm pining.
What a shame hope you enjoyed the walk and can reschedule the hike for better days x
