Due to knee pain which is not bad unless I walk downstairs, I'll pass this week but don't let that stop anyone else. What are your plans for this week? Drop in to log your runs

Life after Laura. Week II/IV Keep running!
The knees do keep us in line! I have had some difficulties too but generally I have found some ways to keep them moving and reduce the pain. First of all on running rest days I always do flex and stretch exercises focussing on my legs. Cycling is a great way to keep my heart and lungs fit while moving my knees at low impact. I think one thing is that there isn't a great deal of movement in my knees when I run, they can stiffen on a long run, so I make sure I do stretch and flex movements before and after long runs, so far, I haven't stopped running even though I have modified the types of running I do
That's really helpful, thanks. I found some exercises to relieve the dreaded runner's knee and I've started doing those. I'll have a look at the strength and flexibility programme. Is that what you are doing? Have ordered a knee brace and a strap to go under the knee in the hope that helps but they won't arrive till Sat. Not sure what caused my problem as have never had a problem with my knees before. I've read up on it and advice is contradictory, some sites tell you to stop running until all pain is gone, others suggest doing as much as you can do without pain. I really only have pain going up or down stairs but it came from running so continuing running might not be too good for it. Hopefully I can get around it. Missing my run tonight. You keep running mind and enjoy your running week
Dislike!!! Sincerely wishing you a speedy recovery for your own wellbeing apart from anything else! Miss my graduation buddy but will be keeping everything crossed that it's a short and temporary glitch. If its any consolation, it was bloody cold out there tonight so I'm now going to shower carefully to see if any bits have dropped off! Hang in there
Drat eh? Such a bummer but I am using the time to get back into yoga so not entirely wasted. Keep in mind you're running for the two of us so make me proud. No skiving. Not that you would! What are your plans for this week apart from shedding odd bits in the shower? Actually that would be nice if you could choose which bits
Much the same as last week ... aiming for a 5k midweek then squeeze a little bit extra on Saturday if I can ... but in reality I'm just concentrating on carrying on as tonight, the couch was definitely calling! And no, sadly I don't think there's much chance of a side of bacon falling off either of my hips tonight so I'll have to make do with wrapping it all up in my pj's and refusing to move for the rest of the night! Hubs is just off out to his club for his session so if he thinks I'll be moving to make his dinner later he can get acquainted with the 'heat it yourself' fish pie in the fridge!
Would have been my r2 today. Knee is a lot better. No pain at all even going downstairs so healing up ok. My knee brace arrived yesterday so I could have tried running with it but don't think knee is 100% yet so still doing my exercises to combat runner's knee, pelvic floor exercises and started the knee strengthening exercises on here but didn't feel my left knee could cope with lunges yet.
Please do knee strengthening exercises everybody BEFORE you get knee problems. Had never had any before so it could happen to you too.
Third run done, another 5.3k which felt really hard but did it anyway. Hearts not in it at the moment as we're having our beloved boxer Chester put to sleep on Thursday because of lymphoma. Cried most of the way round today but it gave me some headspace so I could plan how to make his last few days special before the vet comes out on Thursday to let him drift off on the sofa ... so, in a mad way, doing something physically tough gave me a bit of strength to face something mentally hideous. Funny how life throws these things at you and then carries on regardless. Hope your knee is recovering missus, keep up the KLC (TLC for knees!) and really hope you feel able to head out again soon, but obviously when you're ready
I hope so too, really miss it. So sorry to hear about Chester How very sad wez. It is good you have a bit of time to pamper him and say goodbye.
