Hi everyone, I started c25k 10 weeks ago & I did it to raise money & said I'd do a parkrun on 14/11/15. I've posted a couple of times as I had a really bad chest 2-3 weeks ago & at the beginning I really didn't believe I would ever be able to run for even 5 minutes let alone 5k. I did my last run on Tuesday & did 3.2k in the 30 mins with Laura, my legs were really aching & i'd really pushed myself, so I was very nervous about the 5k yesterday. I did the parkrun at Hanley, and gosh it's not easy. I've been used to running on flat surfaces but there were plenty of inclines that I found so hard. But, I ran the whole 5k! I finished in 47.09, which I know is slow, and I was last! But to be able to run for 47 mins when i'd only just got to 30, I'm pleased with that! And I survived, which is always nice 😊 I'm really aching today, my ankles were really sore yesterday & today it's my hips, but I'm going to continue building up slowly and not push myself for another 5k for a few weeks, until I feel ready. Thanks for the support on here, oh and if anyone is contemplating a parkrun but doesn't know if they will be accepted by all the excellent runners, well I found them to be lovely, when people passed me they were shouting encouragement, the volunteers were excellent, and I got a lovely big cheer when I finished! So go for it!!

Oh Emma, what a lovely post and well done you for getting around that 5k Parkrun! You must feel so proud. Isn't it amazing what we are capable of when we really challenge ourselves? Here's to many more 5ks!
Emma, that's brilliant!! What a wonderful achievement. Well done!

Hi Emma, I have been wondering how you have been getting on...well done! I am still taking it slowly and am about to start week 9 next week. I am only able to run twice a week so it is all taking a bit longer. Am signing up for a 5k at the end of January and have found a friend to run with. Knowing you have got there is a real inspiration. Thank you.
