I've been wondering what encouragement is best to give to parkrunners when I'm volunteering as a marshall. Lo and behold this article has the answer!
Cheering the parkrunners on - how is best? - Couch to 5K
Cheering the parkrunners on - how is best?
You could try the encouragement I received from one volunteer: "It's all flat from here on" as she stood at the bottom of a rather obvious hill. On the 2nd lap the shout had changed to "I've forgotten my glasses but they tell me it's all flat from here to the finish".
Lovely article - the writer is a regular runner and volunteer at Hilly Fields parkrun in SE London. In the last para she mentions her friend and fellow volunteer cheering her on to a PB - I think I know who she is talking about, the guy is an absolute legend (hope this link works):

BTW after he shouts "15.20" I run past on the left, in the fluoro orange top!
brilliant... and congratulations to ALL the volunteers
Ha ha! I have to say that my least favourite encouragement is "keep going" - do they think I plan to stop? And one said to me once "that's it! Nice and slowly" when I was running as fast as I could... Some one here a while ago, I think it was Bazza, posted about how at one PR the marshalls shouted stuff like "get a move on" and "run faster"....they had more PBs that week than any other week...
