Nearly walked a marathon.

On Sunday I walked 22miles, it took me 5hours 33 mins. I was dying with the cold and it was a walking race with cut off times and I missed the cut off by 3 mins. When the lady told me that I was relieved as I was cream crackered to be honest. I said thank you to the marshals, but I'd had enough, and was amazed I'd made it this far. With no training, well no long walking training anyway. So I'm chuffed because it's the first race type thing I've ever done....on the island where I live where people might point and laugh at me, I even had a bib to wear. I learnt a lot. Like you need a proper race bib really, duct tape doesn't cut it, and perhaps pork pies weren't the best thing to have organised for lunch. But let's be clear, this time last year I hadn't even left the couch, I wouldn't have dreamt of doing this. And I'm starting to wonder if I can walk that distance can I run a half by February?? I'm the mad one giving the thumbs up, and that's char who's really good at this and finished the whole whopping 40 miles.

Ha ha Brilliant Sparky ! Well done to you !

Fab post and love the tags ha ha ! :-D xxx

That's great sparky! Sounds really gruelling but a satisfying challenge in a way as you've really found something out about yourself. Good luck if you do look into running a HM!

Brilliant!! Well done, and yes... you can run a half by February!!!

PS safety pins are better than duct tape :)

Yes, you can!!! (and not just because I want you to!).

I can't imagine walking that sort of distance. I think even walking the HM distance would now be scarier than the prospect of running it.

Well done - and great photo!

There's still 25% places left on the HM , but it'll be tough being trail- I'm still thinking about it!

Should be fun whichever one you decide on!

c25k makes all sorts of new adventures possible. Maybe the adventure can be 6 km down a new route, sometimes it could be training to do a half marathon, at other times, it's being able to go and do crazy things along the rocky shores, and sometimes it's just knowing you can now walk humanly impossible distances, and taking the walk to see what there is to see while out and about like that. You've got to have stayed addicted for quite a bit after c25k to get that fit, though. Looks like you had fun, so you're achieving the best goal of them all.
