Who has been inspired by entering the GNR or other HM in 2016?
Well I have!
I was just thinking it would be great if we could over take the event...ok maybe not over take it but you understand my sentiment....
I was thinking wouldn't it be BETTER if there was a c25k event in the middle of the UK and people all over came to that event......
Another thought i had is i know we talked about a hand wave to id each other. But it would be great if we could get a race number type thing that said C25K and your Username so we could id each other !!! Maybe not as big as a race number but something as the pin is too small!
But seriously - I wonder if we could organise an event?

I will confess...i have had a few glasses of vino! But i am seriously thinking this is BRILLIANT, not ORIGINAL but doable idea. We could have a 5km and 10km distance in a central location. I am thinking the profit could go to the NHS and Choices program. The finishers T-shirt will be green, maybe with he person user name! I am thinking this could work...
I've decided I really am trying for a HM, so early next year...
If all you want to do is identify yourself at a run, then print off a c25k logo (white on green stickman) and pin it to the back of your top - perhaps with a name, but I looked for two guys in running club strip at parkrun (500 people) on Saturday and never found them.
I think we would arrange a place and time to meet before the race. So we can wish each other luck and put a person to the user profile. Or meet up after to congratulate each other.... I think it was very successful in the Winter London Run so i am hoping the GNR we could achieve the same.
I was just thinking it would be good also if your running event if there was an easier way to id each other. I like your idea - cheap and effective
I'm giving the GNR some deep consideration; it looks an amazing race that would be brilliant to be a part of. Also love the Great North Games too, which would be cool to go watch, the day before.
Vix, the London Winter Run meet-up was indeed successful and it was great to meet so many other C25Kers. 😊
Sounds a great idea to meet up. Also if you want to pin it around the GNR, for those of us not up to it, there's always a 5k race the day before around Newcastle quayside as a warm up event.
The GN5k had a special wave set aside for people to register under 'this girl can'. It was great to run together and I wonder if it's possible to ask organisers of other races to have a C25K wave that people could register for.
it would be great and it would really show successful this app and podcast is and its for FREE!!!
Also to celebrate what a lovely bunch of people are on this community...
You read my mind and although perhaps not the Great North Run for me (although I have registered for alerts) I did pick this event as a potential run for next year -
How fantastic it would be to do a lap in the Olympic Park. It was this event that got me started on C25K if I am honest. When it took place this year I was walking a section of the Thames Path and met a lovely lady at the local train station who was taking part in this event. Her enthusiasm and our shared interest in walking inspired me. On the London tube I saw lots of early morning competitors on their way to Stratford and it made me wish I was one of them.
When I signed up for Park Run I declared myself a member of Team NHS so at the very least we could all be doing that.
I wonder if Morrison's could be encouraged to add another run to their already extensive list of events?
That does look like a good run....and it would be a fantastic opportunity to run on that track!!!
The only problem with the Great Runs are they are so expensive...I was thinking maybe something like the park run. However my concern was numbers and health and safety.
I think its great if people could meet up at events. I would love to organise an event for all of us. Obviously not for Profit!!!!! But as a celebration of our sweat and meet people, if they want to!!!
I like the idea. I guess the practical challenge would be to find an event that is easily accessible to as nany people as possible. While GNR would likely work for me as I have family in the area, it is clearly not so covenient for people in the south and anything in London is tricky for those north of the Midlands.
Also wouldn't it be great if there was a c25k tshirt one could buy? Certainly would make recognition easier
