Driving there It was 10 degrees only outside but the euphoria kept me warm. A very easy going and friendly bunch of people. Everyone was so relax and happy. We started at the cry of "go". It was 2.5 K each way, on a concrete path along the water. By the time I reached 1.7Km one mob was already coming back past me! Never mind. I made it and was not the last. I came 32 out of 37 with a time of 39.09 at 7.81 minutes per kilometre. My gender position was 18 out of 24. I was short of 0.099 of my PB. I should have given it a boost at the finishing line. Will do it next time.
One question: Age grade was 55.04% "how well relative to their age and gender" . What does this mean? For my age and grade I am running at only 55.04% of what should be my ability? Or taking figures from all over the world I am in the 55.04% mark? I don't really understand. Can someone enlighten me please?

Wow, u did it! I'm on week 5 of C25K and have registered with Parkrun but not ready yet. Thanks for ur post, confirms with me my goal to run 5K in around 45 mins b4 going along. People keep saying to go now but don't want to go before I'm at a reasonable standard. Great result for u!
Thank you. In retrospect I should have gone before. Not specifically for running but perhaps Marshaling or something else. Just to get the feel of it and meet all.
The age grading comes from the world record for the different age and gender categories -- the older you are the slower the world record time - plus mens times are faster than womens times . So your 5K 0f 39:09 at an age/gender rating of 55.04% is just slightly behind my PB of 30:34 which is an age/gender rating of 56.43%. It is a kind of "handicap" rating. I am older than you - BUT I am male.
Well done! I never thought there were so many different ways of classifying the same person. Geesh! On my scale, you come out right at the top - you ran park run, and you finished in good time. xx
