But a bit more genuine than last week's 35K - the distance last week was over 5 days of running - but only 4 days this week (which is "the plan".
I am constantly amazed at how different runs feel at the end. Yesterday I pushed myself a little at parkrun and did 6:23 over 5K - today, I thought I would take it quite easy but stretch the distance out a little - so I chose to run at 8:00 per k over 7 klm. This is a full minute and a half slower than yesterday's 5k pace -- BUT at the end of the 7K, I was feeling as tired (or maybe even moreso) than at the end of the 5K parkrun.
I know there there are different "efficiencies" at different paces - in other words , we run more "efficiently" at one pace than at others -- but I can also see that the 7K pace was only 80% of the 5K pace , while the 7K distance is 140% of the 5K distance -- 0.8 times 1.4 gives approx 1.12 , so "in theory" today's supposedly easy run required in fact 12% more effort/energy!!
I know I know !! I think too much - but when I am faced with questions like "Why was today's run , which was supposed to be easier than yesterday's run, harder?? I've just got to figure out a reason!!
