I have just booked myself in for my first official 5k run.
Not til October so will give me a chance to work on running up Hill as it has short steep one that I will have to do twice!!!
Can't believe this is me typing these words!!!

Do you have any parkruns close by??
Hi Bazza
Yes, I have registered and am going to do my first one on Saturday. That will be my first run after graduation.
A bit nervous about it but sure once I'm there I will be fine

OK -- no need to be "nervous" - just arrive early to hear the first timers briefing - start towards the back of the pack and watch what happens all around you - the next time then you will know how it all works
Enjoy it. When it comes to hills, half the trick seems to be simply to accept the fact that you have to slow down. Just get yourself to be accepting of that unavoidable crawl speed requirement, and then forget all about the end, and just "stay there forever". Instead of wondering when it's going to all end, try and convince yourself of unconvincing things like "I think I'll just settle down and live here".
... and I can't believe it's me who typed those words!!!
The technique for hills is to maintain your cadence but to take smaller step. Keep your eyes fixed on the ground about 10 meters ahead so you don't get put off by looking at the incline and thinking about how far you've still got to go. And finally, use your arms to power your way up. Hope this helps. Good luck with the race
