I have signed up to swim the English Channel (22 miles) in my local swimming pool. In September 14th for 12 weeks in aid of Aspire Charity.

Thought what a great way to get conditioning to help aid my running. And also help other people in the process.

I'm swimming the River Derwent... didn't properly register just how far that is and I've been at it over a year now. But it is fun - I find swimming a lot more boring than running but thinking about where I'd be passing makes it more interesting.

Chapeau to you. That's a serious distance to run. I can't even conceive of swimming it. I can't conceive of swimming a mile. I would dearly love to try a triathlon but the swim part is the big block.

Do be sure to post your sponsorship details on here. I, for one, will support you.

I did that challenge at the end of last year. The most difficult thing was finding the time to fit the swimming sessions in. I'm not the fastest swimmer in the world but I find that once I get going it's a great work out. I just let my thoughts drift to wherever they want to go & by the end of the swim I'm feeling completely relaxed. I now swim at leasr twice a week - usually for an hour each time
