A "C25K " for swimming

I am a water person - I started swimming with no floating aids when I was 4 and it is something I have done much more regularly than any other sport, but I often see people that have never had the opportunity to learn , and today, while I was doing a mile swim in the pool (the heat wave is not going to reach this part of Ireland: 15 degrees and showers) I wondered if there was something similar to C25K for swimming - and I found this:

Interesting!!

I have never ever been able to swim - i the same way that I could not run. I could "run" - but not for long or far. So - I can "swim" but barely enough to save my life :(

There is a BIG difference between running and swimming however -- if I stop running, I don't sink beneath the pavement !! :) If I stop swimming however, I do (sink below the water). Particularly in fresh water, I have no reserve buoyancy! -- I do see people who just seem to be able to "float" around with little effort.

Yeah - you KNOW that you want to do a Triathlon!!! :)

I'd love to as well! The only thing that stops me is having to swim with so many other people - I find the sight of the start of a Triathlon swim kind of disgusting - makes me think of millions of cockroaches gasping for air!! ;)

Thank you for sharing, if it works as well as the running plan, it will be fab for me, as my stamina is rubbish in the water :-)

I love swimming. I go at least once a week - usually twice & this week it will be three times. Luckily there's a pool that is a 5 minute walk from my house. There's a 25m indoor pool and a 30m outdoor pool. With temperatures in the high 20's here at the moment that outdoor pool is heavenly ☺

Our pool (and I think it is a national thing) has loads of cards up on the poolside for you to work your way through.

I am doing a virtual swim of the river Derwent - signed up without really registering just how long it is, so it is definitely a long term project! (swimming.org has lots of options)

I love swimming. I was regularly swimming a mile once or twice a week before I had a lot of hospital stays in 2013. I was building up again last year but for some reason I just stopped a few months ago.

You've inspired me to go back again next week. Thank you.

I love swimming, and was never dry as a kid as we had the baths on the street, some days I'd fit two sessions in. I have a horrible ear now though so never swim and I really miss it. It's something though that you never unlearn.
