W8 with new trainers

Did my first 28 min run today after a weeks break and in new trainers. All was going well until about 20 mins when the toes on both feet started feeling numb. I was measured for the trainers so wondered if it might be that I tied them too tight. Any ideas? Kept going until the end and was fine after but was a bit concerned x

It could be your feet have swelled in the heat. I have numerous pairs of running shoes and most slightly bigger than my normal size. That said, I have ended up with a battered toe next to my big toe, its bruised, yet on other occasions its fine. I can only think its to do with that rare thing we get here, heat.

Thanks, my new trainers are half a size bigger than my usual size so it probably was the heat x

I'm usually a 9, so got a 9.5, but one felt too tight so got 10s and have been great..

I've used compeed gel in the past and been good..

I got the gel insoles too and they feel comfortable. There's plenty of room around my toes so will try tying my trainers a bit looser next time and see if it makes a deference x

That is weird exactly the same happened to me. I have had new trainers for about 10 days (half a size bigger) on my 25 minute run first one foot's toes went numb around 20 min then the other! Thought there was something wrong with me.

How strange but at least I'm not the only one. Has it happened to you more than once? x

Yes I got it again last night. The right foot about 7 mins from the end of a 25 min run (roughly same as last time) Probably worse this time as it travelled from toes into foot. The moment I stopped running it stopped. Have to say I am a bit concerned. I do have a dodgy right knee and had wondered if it was connected.

Spoke to someone who suggested it may be down to dehydration. So for my last run I built in 2 drink (slow downs) and it was much better. Only got it for the last minute. So I think I need to adjust fluid intake. Might be worth a try.

Thanks dexdog that's really useful to know, I usually have a drink before I start then nothing until I finish. I'm just back from a run and it happened after about 15 mins so will carry a drink next time and see if it makes a difference x
