Just thought - have you ever done a wolf run? Hubby is looking to sign up. I've done him an Asics plan to get him from 5k to 10k but I was wondering about the training for the obstacles. Any advice? He does weights several times a week but I didn't know whether good upper body strength would be 'enough'. He says I should do it too but the thought of him and his mates pushing my bottom over a high wall is a recurring nightmare!!!!

I haven't done a Wolf Run. Summer and Autumn conflict with other events I have on, but I have been looking at the Winter Wolf run if I am recovered enough from my marathon.

Trainingwise, upper body strength is a real advantage, and grip strength particularly - there is a lot of hanging onto things. You can never do enough pullups for OCR. Also plyometric work - if you can do box jumps it help a lot doing the initial jump up to haul yourself up walls.

You should definitely do it. It is really the greatest fun, especially if you have a good team with you. The high walls tend to be more standing on your teammates heads rather than them pushing your bottom. Go on, go and get muddy!

Really useful tips - thanks, very much appreciated! Maybe I'll work on my own upper body strength to do it next year :) Or convince my female friends to have a go with me this year ......................
