I am not really running here because I have just nearly crawled up an endless hill.

That's certainly not walking and evidently making forward progress - you are really running. Love that smile - what a brilliant advert and thank you for letting us share the experience vicariously.

Haha, thanks. Though in my book, both feet on floor at same time = walking.

Cheers all. The event is the Claire House Excalibur run in North Wales. Might just head back next year to see if I can do the marathon... ;)

I'm a teacher. We're good actresses when it comes to pretending everything's fine and dandy ;)

Look, honestly that could be a professional photograph from a magazine. Spectacular scenery and (sorry) an athletic model.

It is a professional photo from the event photographers, cheekily screenshotted from their website. And unless athletic is an insult (I don't consider it one), you don't need to apologise. Thanks :)

Looks really great - the sort if thing I'd like to do one day i.e. out in the hills somewhere. How long was it? Great weather too!

Half marathon, so just over 13 miles. I'd really recommend it - much nicer than Tarmac!

That might be a suitable target to aim for befire my 50th in 2 years.

Do it! You've plenty of time to get up to the distance, especially as you're already walking pretty far, and of the 22 women who came in ahead of me, 10 were registered as over 40, and 3 of those 10 were over 50. Distance running off road favours folk who've lived a bit, because so much of it is mental strength and ballsiness, and that takes time to develop!

Sorry to be nosey. Are they Salomon's on your feet there TF? I am always on the look out for a good trail shoe

Looking good there TF. Very perfeshnial !

No worries! Yes, they're Salomon Fellraisers and I love them. I wear a size up from my normal shoes to accommodate the hobbit feet (narrow heels, broad toes), and the insoles hold water rather longer than I'd like, but otherwise they're fab. They're on sale somewhere at the mo too (possibly wiggle? Can't remember)

My friend has a pair of innov8s that she ran the course in and really rates as well. They're lighter and more barefooty, and I rather liked the look of them...
