10 mile running plan

Well I tried to download a new plan for a 10 mile race from myasics but it says I don't have enough time so they won't let me have one unless I put the date back by two weeks, which I did just to get the plan. Oops. Naughty

So I'm starting it on Thursday. Here we go again

I have been doing up to 10k lately and have not run beyond that since last October when I did the half marathon.

This 10 mile race has 3k of hill at the start, a steep hill at half way point and a long sloping uphill at 12k, so I have to be ready For it. Could have done without a sore knee at this point but it seems to be much better.

Well at least you are in the right part of the country for some hill sprints! best of luck! I have a 10 miler in October that is flat but will have a different challenge - wind off the Solent!

Preperation is key, I love the myasics plans - I think you told me about them and they are great, so thanks! :) That does sound like a lot of hills in that course! There are running groups I see every week who use the hills in the park I run at just for hill work, that's all they do on these nights is run up and down hills. Maybe something like that would be useful as well? It's meant to improve times as well (maybe I should join them - they look like a rather serious running group though, a newbie like me maybe not quite fit enough!).

I just set another myasics plan for 10K again in September (in Vancouver!) but you know how it says about what time you want to get, I maybe put a rather ambitious time in, and it only knocked 4 minutes off my current time. I wasn't impressed with that :( Hopefully I can knock a bit more off...

Good luck with your training for 10 miles! It's great to have a plan to work towards...keeps us going!

Whether you knock any time off your previous one is very much in the lap of the Gods on the day as all sorts can happen. Weather, injury, hills. Oh all sorts. You can only pitch up and run and hope that conditions aren't against you. I ran a 5k race last year and there were some elite runners in it (why, I have no idea) and they dropped out within seconds when they realised they were not going to achieve a PB. Bah! Losers!!!! Ha ha

Hopefully on that day Wristy there will be no white water and all will be calm
