janda creates new UK 5k record

New UK record today at Oak Hill Park run. 23 min 15 sec, placing 38 of a 130. (17 of the first placed 22 are club runners!) Fast times all over the place so pleased to have recorded a great time, beating the previous record by a huge 20 sec. Garmin screaming at me throughout but still underestimating the distance by the usual 50 metres and me not stopping the watch right away meant an overestimated time. But the Park Run watches are clearly more accurate.

Needless to say I am gearing up to the next race! St Albans Half Marathon is a mere three weeks and 12 hours away!

Thanks. I wasn't sure I was quite on track but the finish was a little faster and the sprint at the end probably made all the difference.

Brilliant! Good job. Right chuffed for you. It's all good

Take care now as your training has to get you to your next task. Good luck with that ☺

Thanks MW. I've decided to pistol one my long run till tomorrow just to be sure to give myself a day's break between exertions. Strangely feeling very comfortable. My midweek concerns over heavy legs seem somewhat misplaced now. They may have felt heavy but they moved around my local park at a good pace in training and on the Parkrun.

Well done. with running i find it amazing how long 20 seconds actually is. Any thing else in life and it would just fly past but not when your running. I remember clock watching with timed runs and 20 seconds is a long long time when your putting everything in it. Great time overall, you will ace your next HM with an even better time. Happy running.

How true RFC. Not sure how that next HM time will be but it's all about the talking part and completing and feeling good.
